Matrix CA Model

Post  Charl on Mon Feb 11, 2008 8:18 am

Hi

I am going to start a build thread here for my Matrix that I got on Friday the 8 February 2008. I am hoping to get some response from you out there on all that I do and what mistakes I am making in building the pattern plane. As this is my first true pattern plane that I am going to put together I feel I need all the help I can get.

I will be posting some photo's in the week to get it going.

Hopeing to here from you...!!!!
Thanks
Charl

Hi Charl , must admit CA models could have done a better job at finishing off the cut-outs.... cant believe the nose cut out was accepted by their QC . You cleaned it up very well - looks neat . Refering to you second batch of photos (cut out at the bottom ) where belly pan fits - looks good only thing that concerns me when taking so much away is that it does not leave much stength on the "lip" that remains . In time it may crack from stresses on the frame ....have seen this on Timmy's Eye Candy . To solve this I would glue in some carbon strand around the edge on the inside of the plane.

adding lines to bottom wings

Post  Charl on Thu Feb 21, 2008 7:57 am

I started with two lines from the outside to inside but I feel I need three lines.
1. The lines on the template you see outside of the blocks that’s cut out is the actual size of the red covering I am going to
recover the blocks with.
2. The line you see on the wing is where I am going to cut out the yellow covering.

Charl , as far as I know the wing is all yellow at the bottom - I would go with 3. jnp

Hey Charl, Let's see a bit of progress here. At this rate I might even finish the Epsilon before you get the matrix in the air Very Happy
